Hello Plan ₿ Academy!

Let’s dive in!
🔥 Spotlight: Plan ₿ Program Last Call

We already highlighted this in our first newsletter, so to keep it short: the Plan ₿ Business & Developer Tracks are about to begin, and we’ve decided to open the Introductory Lecture by Giacomo and Rogzy to everyone.
The introductory lecture will take place on February 3rd at 9:00 AM at El Zonte’s Bitcoin Beach House, right after the Plan ₿ Forum El Salvador. If you happen to be in the area, we’d love to have you join us. Just book your seat in the academy's event section. If not, you can still attend via stream on Youtube, Rumble or X.
The full program is just about to begin, but we won’t leave you hanging. Attend the intro lecture first, and then decide whether to join the complete program.
Use code AcademyLastMinute for a 21% discount on either track!

📘 New Learning Content
This past year closed with the team publishing 25 courses on the platform. We’re now setting an even more ambitious goal: 50 courses by the end of 2026.
The year has already started strong, with new courses published and several more in their final stages before release. So rejoice with us, here are two new course highlights.
New Social Sciences Courses!

This month, we released What’s Your Political Leaning? (SOC104) by Damien Theillier and Freedom as a Social Project (PHI102) by Benoît Malbranque. Both beginner-level courses invite you to step beyond simplified political labels and explore how freedom, power, and social order actually emerge.
What’s Your Political Leaning? approaches politics through the freedom–coercion axis and the Nolan Diagram, helping you clarify your own political positioning while examining Bitcoin as a political project rooted in the Cypherpunk tradition. Freedom as a Social Project draws on the French liberal thinkers of the 18th and 19th centuries to frame freedom not as an abstract ideal, but as a social reality grounded in history, property, and voluntary cooperation.
Whether you’re curious about the ideological landscape surrounding Bitcoin or want to better understand freedom as both a moral principle and a practical solution to modern challenges, these courses offer a solid starting point.

Tutorial Highlight!
Our tutorial library keeps growing, and we pride ourselves on being the place with the highest concentration of Bitcoin and Bitcoin-related tutorials. Once again, we’ve selected a few for you to explore something new:
- Zeus Swap – A non-custodial tool to seamlessly swap between On-Chain Bitcoin and Lightning using atomic swaps, no KYC, no intermediaries, just a few clicks to manage your liquidity sovereignly.
- Coin Control – Learn to manually select (and even “freeze”) specific UTXOs when spending, improving privacy, avoiding KYC/non-KYC mixing, and often reducing fees across wallets like Sparrow, Electrum, Nunchuk, and BlueWallet.
- COLDCARD Q - Key Teleport – A secure way to transfer seeds, backups, notes, or PSBTs between two Coldcard Q devices using QR codes. This enables confidential data exchange and multisig coordination without relying on encrypted networks.
(Did you know you could do some proofreading… and earn some sats!)
🌍 Plan ₿ Community

Our community remains one of the Academy’s strongest pillars. This month alone, 38 contributors improved content quality, expanded access across languages, and added 10 new tutorials. Bulgarian is now officially available too.
We also ran a proofreading challenge where contributors earned big discounts for the PlanB Program, and the Japanese community took the win, with the top contributor proofreading nearly 225,000 words.

Our bi-monthly Community Calls are open and free to join. We explore Bitcoin topics that matter, from tools and privacy to education, philosophy, and hands-on tutorials.

⚡ Learning Tool of the Month: Lightning Sovereignty

This month we highlight Set Up Your First Lightning Node (LNP202), a hands-on course by Loïc Morel designed to help you take full control of your Lightning experience.
The course guides you step by step through deploying and managing your own Lightning node, without requiring advanced technical skills. You’ll learn how to:
- Install and configure LND on Umbrel
- Open and manage Lightning channels
- Secure your node with backups and watchtowers
- Connect a mobile wallet while staying fully sovereign
If you already run a Bitcoin node and want the same level of autonomy on Lightning, without relying on custodial wallets, this free intermediate course is the perfect next step.

💡 Is Bitcoin Truly Unique?

In his latest blog post, “Is Bitcoin truly unique?”, Damien Theillier invites us to look past market noise and technological buzzwords to ask a deeper question: what really separates Bitcoin from the rest of the crypto ecosystem?
The key distinction, he argues, is not speed, fees, or features, but philosophy. Bitcoin is built around a radical principle: your right to say “no” without being punished. You can refuse an update, disagree with the majority, and still fully own your money.
Most cryptocurrencies, by contrast, simply replace one authority with another, swapping state control for majority rule, where dissent often comes at a cost.
In short: Bitcoin isn’t just different by design, it redefines money as an individual right, not a privilege granted by consensus.
